I can remember it like it was yesterday. Four years ago, I was grinding—wrapping cars, traveling across state lines, building my skills. I was making good money, had minimal overhead, and one thought kept creeping into my head:
“I could actually buy a Lamborghini.”
At the time, this felt like the moment. The reward for the hustle. The proof that I had made it. I could already see myself pulling up to gas stations, pretending like I wasn’t enjoying all the attention, and explaining to every curious stranger, “Oh yeah, it’s a V10. Had to go with the Huracán.”
But God must’ve been looking down at me, shaking His head like, “Nope, you’re not ready for that yet.”
Too Honest for My Own Good
Rewind a couple of years before the Lamborghini dreams, and I was just trying to get my foot in the door. I went to local shops, hoping to get hired, but there was one small problem: I was way too honest in my interviews.
I told them I had already been to Avery Dennison wrap training classes. I talked about how I wanted to grow in the industry. I basically said, “I plan on being really good at this, and one day, I might be your competition.”
Shocking news: they didn’t hire me.
At the time, I was frustrated. But looking back, it was a blessing. If they had given me a job, I might’ve learned their bad habits, lowered my standards, and stunted my growth. Instead, I found my own way—and it led me to something way better.
The Wrap Studio: My Unexpected Blessing
Fast forward a bit, and I ended up in Roswell, New Mexico (yes, alien Roswell) at The Wrap Studio. That’s where I met my now very good friends, the Corbells.
They took me under their wing. They trusted me. And honestly, without them, Neck Breaker wouldn’t be what it is today. I could go on forever about the adventures with the Corbells—but that’s another story for another time (maybe when I actually buy the Lamborghini).
The Lamborghini Dream—Revisited
So there I was, four years ago, standing on the edge of what I thought was success. The money was stacking up. The dream was right there. I could’ve gone out and bought the Lamborghini.
But here’s what I didn’t have yet:
- A solid business foundation
- A team to support the vision
- A platform to actually leverage the Lamborghini for more than just flexing at gas stations
Back then, it would’ve been a dumb financial move. A depreciating asset that did nothing for my long-term goals.
But today? Now I can actually afford it. And not just “buy it and pray I can make the payments” afford it—I mean truly, comfortably, use-it-as-a-tool afford it.
